Options Booklet 2019
The selection of courses at Key Stage 4 is one of the key moments in your secondary education. All Kirk Hallam Academy pupils follow a three-year Key Stage 4 programme, starting in Year 9. This provides the best opportunity for you to achieve your full potential and secure success by the end of Year 11.
Selecting the right courses in not always a straightforward decision. Making choices at this earlier stage becomes more difficult because of limited experience of different subjects. However, we aim to ensure that the information and guidance provided will alleviate some of these issues. It is important that you understand you own strengths and weaknesses so that you can optimise your chances of success. Equally, we trust that you will select courses in which you have a real interest.
We have now published our Options Booklet 2019. Students will have a number of weeks having received this booklet to think about their choices and have one-to-one interviews with their form tutors.
Pupils will then make an initial choice of six before February half term.
At Year 8 Parents Evening (Wednesday 6th March), parents will have an opportunity to ask questions of subject teachers as to the appropriateness of option choices.
Finally at the Options Evening (Wednesday 13th March) pupils and parents will have one last opportunity to speak to option subject teachers and make a final decision as to the option choices they would like to make.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school
