BTEC in Performing Arts

Exam Board: Edexcel

You will explore what it means to be an actor and the different skills and roles needed to produce and perform a range of different dramatic pieces. You will develop and review your own performance skills through a mix of traditional plays and performances as well as self-written pieces. 

Assessment

1.Exploring the Performing Arts Internal Assessment (Practical/ Written)

Practical and Written element

Knowledge and understanding of a range of performance/production styles, and the key features that contribute to these such as practitioners’ roles, responsibilities, skills and techniques. Students will explore and watch three different professional works and understand the development of the pieces. 

Students will complete written tasks that share there knowledge and understanding of one of the plays in detail. 

2. Developing Skills and Techniques in the Performing Arts Internal Assessment (Mainly practical)

Students will learn a professional play. 

Students show skills during the rehearsal process. 

Apply skills and techniques in performance 

Review own development and application of skills in rehearsals and performance.

 

3.Responding to a Brief Externally assessed. (Practical/ written)

The exam board will send a starting point and brief detailing what students need to explore and create. 

Students will have to write about the development process and review the skills developed at milestone points in the rehearsal.

The piece will be performed to each other.
